Spod or not to spod

Can anyone help?

Ive been told a few times when out that i spod too much and scare fish away.(hence the nickname).

About half an hour before the first cast i put around 10 spodfulls out,then one or two at intervals or before recasts.

In winter i half the ammount.

Have i got it wrong
Any ideas?

Should have added.
The lake is always colored and about 8ft deep,half an acre with only about 10 large carp in there to 30lb.

I don't think it's a case of spodding being right or wrong. The question is does it work for you?
do you catch more or less than others on the lake?
do you catch the better fish?
Jim Shelley has been known to put 40 kilos of bait in, but if they are feeding hard then they will eat it all.

Spoddy,
I think I might be a little concerned at somebody chucking a spod out on such a small water. You could possibly be disturbing other peoples fishing mate.
If there's nobody about then fine.

I would be pretty pissed off too if I was fishing a small water like that and someone came and started spodding.

Sorry didn't explain,its a private lake on a farm.
Never seen anyone else fishing it when Ive been there.
Only people around are river anglers(ones who say I'm chucking to much in),as the lake is along side it.

Funny when i used to fish rivers for barbel i used to chuck bucket loads in.

Always catch there so must be doing something right.

if they arent even fishing the water, why listen to them.

half an acre? sounds like one of my kind of waters.....
