Hi All,
I'm off to Linear on wednesday for a day session as a treat for my birthday, was wondering if anyone had any advice on tackling this place, i was hoping to go for a mixed bag of fish and see what happens but there are a lot of lakes and fish to go for and didn't know where to start really:confused: any help appreciated

Best thing is to go on their website and look for clues in their catch reports. These look promising -

ST JOHNS POOL

16 Feb - Steve Cliff landed three upper-doubles during a recent 48-hour session using small pop-ups fished over a spodded area at about 90 yards range.

Fishing with Steve was Nigel Archer who had mirrors weighing 19lb and 23lb using similar tactics.

Sparsholt student Jordan Couch had an 18lb 10oz mirror and a 17lb 12oz common.

Linear Bailiff Ian Roper had a heavily scaled mid-double mirror along a 28lb 04oz mirror using plastic corn over a lightly spodded area at about 40 yards range.

BRASENOSE ONE

16 Feb - Lewis Wood fished a day only session and landed nine fish up to 16lb using "Carp Balls" pop-ups fished at range.

Karl Cadman had a 7lb 01oz tench along with mirrors weighing 10lb, 15lb and a new PB at 24lb.

Tony Day from Richmond, Surrey landed mirrors of 12lb and 15lb during a recent 48-hour session.

Neil Wigman had an 11lb common along with mirrors weighing 14lb, 25lb and 27lb 02oz using plastic corn and Solar toffee and banana pop-ups.

Mike Loftus had six fish up to 23lb 12oz using maggots and corn fished at about 60 yards range.

Don't read a map whilst doing 60 down the M40. :wh £300 for a honda civic wing mirror  , mine cost £20 for new glass.

I'd suggest phoning up, any of the baliffs you speak to will be able to put you on the right track.

At this time of the year I would fish Brasenose 1 with small baits and pva sticks. Maggots, corn, and mini boilies all seem to work for me and also a bit of groundbait with free samples to kick start the session.

good luck today mate, please let us know how you get on. I've been meaning to do the same at linear for a while - go for a mixed bag rather than exclusively for carp. Tight lines!
