have a go with the squid mate,and tell us how you get on.suid is a good bait for predatory sea fish and also a good bait for eels,so there`s no reason to think that squid won`t catch.
I think that the majority of pikers haven`t tried squid simply because they have loads of other cheap baits that catch.
as for hooking a sprat,use a trace with just one treble or single and hook the sprat through its` tail bone.
no need for two hooks with a small soft bait like a sprat.
hit any runs instantly,a good sized pike will quickly swallow a small bait.
the strike should be quick whatever size of bait you are using,better to miss,than deep hook a pike.
