When tying rigs using a coated braid should the end nearest the lead also be slightly stripped for a strong knot or not. E.g you were tying a grinner knot onto a swivel using Korda Hybrid. Would you strip it around the area of the grinner knot?

You should ask this on the carp forum anyway.

I haven't used Korda Hybrid, but no, I wouldn't strip it anyway. Neither would I tie a grinner necessarily. A figure 8 loop knot is what I would choose. Strong and allows the hooklink to move around on the swivel. My preference.
