I was using a gated bait needle for splicing but pulled the gate off when hair rigging halibut pellets recently. So before I buy a new splicer, which is the best? in your opinions.
Bob, why you using a splicing needle for mounting baits? Would a baiting needle not be better?
I tend to use the Gardener bait needles, the ones that slide back into the handle. They're kind to braid hairs and good for putting in ya pocket when you've finished with 'em. I've only ever used a splicing needle for splicing lead core etc.
Big Fish Adventure make the splicing needle I've got. Not a bad bit of kit.
I wasn't using a splicing needle for mounting baits. I was using a gated (pva stick) baiting needle for mounting halibut pellets , the gate pulled off in the pellet.
