a little while ago I lost a good perch when a swivel parted

what do you look for in a swivel ??

or are you like I was and just buy a packet of swivels ??

brand new swivel and could of been my first 4lb perch..............

Fox carp hooks: straightened
Fox pike trebles: snapped
Fox bivvie: leaked
Now the first time I hear about a swivel breaking it's Fox.
I am glad to hear from you guys that the alarms are ok.

most of them seem to be re-badged sea ones anyway....

only swivel i've ever had snap was on one of my surfboards leash!

Cakey, the best swivels I have seen are the ones that have ball bearings inside them. I use them for my spinning traces, you don't need an anti-kink vane with them.

PS: sorry about the lost Perch.
It reminds me of the Perch episode in the Predators series where the guy gets the fish to the surface and then the hook pulls out. Not sure why I remember it so well, it could be the size of the fish or it may be the way the guy with the net keeps telling him what a good fish he's just lost..

I will look at both swivels and try to find the spec

I was fishing a big weir pool [feildes]and I got the perch to the surface and was bringing it in when the swivel parted leaving me with just the eye and I also had four others telling me how big it was !

don't you just hate that!

My mate had a nice twenty plus mirror come off about three foot from the net.
I manage to bring it into the conversation every time we are on the bank...and that happened in July. I wouldn't want him to forget about it :)

is there a test ?
I thought about giving a real hard pull between two bits of line but then I might damage it by doing the test !
