Barges set sail again

Caught a story today about some aggregates company using barges on the Gloucester Canal instead of lorries. It saved an awesome amount of lorry movements, I think each barge equated to six lorries' worth and used a tiny fraction of the fuel. Wonder if more firms are going to start doing this now the waterways network is gradually being restored.

wonderfull to hear the canals are being used for the original purpose that they where built for also the jobs it would create ---again look at the continent to see how sucssesfull it could really be.without any apparent harm to their fishing
concerning heavy goods and delivery waggons wouldn,t it really help if they where only allowed to travel between the hours of 7 oclock at night till 7 oclock in the morning no traffic jams ??

They might carry a bit of colour in the winter too, improved fishing?

Gloucester Canal is a ship canal, so it's what it was built for. Struggling to find it online, maybe it'll be in the papers tomorrow.

It'll be good news for the fishing on the Gloucester - Sharpness Canal! At present it is gin clear and pretty hard to fish.

A few barges churning the water up can only help things!
