Hi all,
haven't posted in a long time i've been pretty busy.

I've been fishing for years as a few of you will know, but i've never grasped what floats are used for what weather/style of fishing. If anyone could fill me in it would be much appreciated.

Thanks alot,
Sam.

Hello Sam, you've really got me thinking as to what a useful answer would be. Possibly get right back to basics and read a beginners' book or is that patronising? Alternatively try to watch some decent float anglers in action, maybe at a match. I just cannot come up with a definitive answer!

Hi Sam,

That's a hell of a question without giving any detail as to what quarry you're after, preferred method/tactics etc.

Plenty of fine folk on FM happy to help you, as I've found out. A terrific bunch and 99% more qualified than me to help.

Give these guys some idea of what type of fishing you're interested in and they'll point you in the right direction.

Hi Sam, I don't know if you've seen this series on float fishing by Dave Cooper in the techniques section. float fish series a few years old but still valid.
Regards, Paul.

I fish everything, from specialist to pole. But i'm most interested in pole floats and rod floats.

If any information is required just ask :)

Sam.

Sam,

Starting on here soon (possibly tomorrow) is a series (10/11 articles) on commercial waters that will include about three articles on pole fishing. It will be every fortnight. All I've got to do is finish writing it! (only 8 left to do). It will end up on the techniques section like Dave's series.
