The Environment Agency is hoping parents and children will fall hook, line and sinker for the nation?s favourite participant sport at an organised event near Thursby.

Parents/guardians and their children are invited to attend an angling day at Crofton Lake on Thursday April 6 between 10am and 3pm.

Jo Ratcliffe, Fisheries, Recreation and Biodiversity Technical Officer, said: "Angling is a healthy, inclusive sport that appeals to people of all ages and backgrounds and has social, environmental and economic benefits. We regularly run junior and adult angling events to introduce new participants to the sport and to promote good practice.

"Knowledge of angling and in the process, appreciation for the wider environment is of benefit to all. Anglers assist us by being our eyes and ears on the riverbank and have frequently alerted us of early stages of pollution to rivers that has prevented major pollution incidents taking place."

All equipment, rod licences and coaching is provided but you should bring warm waterproof clothing, sensible shoes and a packed lunch.

To book tickets contact Jo Ratcliffe on 01768 215874 or jo.ratcliffe@environment-agency.gov.uk. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid missing out.
