Anyone out there got any views or comments on this company's tackle?

I've seen them about on the web and they have a few retail outlets across the country but I've not come across their gear too much.

Looks good, maybe a bit pricey, but who knows?

The Orvis Fishing Tackle company has its head office in Manchester Vermont USA. They are one of the oldest tackle companies still in existance in the world.

These days, they specialise in fly fishing tackle - for very good reason. Fly fishing is the fastest growing division of angling in the world. There are more fly rods made than any other type.

Orvis was a pioneer in the 1880s in the manufacture of split cane rods. I have used a lot of there tackle over the years. It has always been of high quality.

I used to work for Orvis based in the UK, their European head offices are in Andover.

Good company with some very innovative products.
They used to be the only company that produced a clear, floating line, the Monic Sly line that was used extensively by their customers fishing the clear seas around Cuba etc.

Also do some good pike fly gear.

Their rods have a lifetime guarantee aswell.

Orvis is a highly respected American fly fishing company. The tackle is high quality and very expensive. There's an Orvis shop in Harrogate, North Yorks.

I spent 3 months in Manchester, saw the rods being hand built and tested.

They pull the tip eye to the butt so the touch on every rod before it's allowed out.

A very good range of excelent quality clothing as well.
Here's a tip though, check out their American outlets on the internet and buy online. Even with the postage its a very considerable saving! I've just bought an Orvis Frequent Flyer travel rod and with the postage it came to ?93.00, the same rod is ?160.00 here, without delivery!
