I went piking from 2 til 7.30pm on my local gravel pit on Sunday.
The rooks were busy collecting twigs for their nests, the grebes were fishing hard to build themselves up for breeding, tench were rolling in front of me...
Caught b*gger all, but felt so relaxed and energised afterwards.
There is no doubt there is a magical feeling about this time of year.
I had to work saturday night into Sunday morning. Great, one hour less to work, but still get the same pay.
Hate it when the clocks go back and I have to work, did manage time off last year.
Working in Paris we have the added benefit of the extra hour time zone, so here it is light until gone 7.30PM.
Last night I walked down to the English pub' around 7PM to watch the Arsenal v's Juventus (way to go Arsenal ;-) and it was still bright, and for the first time this year I actually heard the birds singing.
summer:bass, black bream, bull huss, tench ,lure fishing and stocking my freezer with all manner of sea fish for use as pike bait next winter!those are the pleasures!
the nasty bits are,hay fever, mozzies, holiday traffic, overgrown river banks, boats, canoes and fair weather noddy anglers.
