It's still light! 6.30pm.

Roll on those long warm summer nights spent on the river bank or lake, I can't wait.

I love this time of year Steve,

The late afternoon session is viable again!

Absolute bliss...

I went piking from 2 til 7.30pm on my local gravel pit on Sunday.

The rooks were busy collecting twigs for their nests, the grebes were fishing hard to build themselves up for breeding, tench were rolling in front of me...

Caught b*gger all, but felt so relaxed and energised afterwards.

There is no doubt there is a magical feeling about this time of year.

Paul Clarke, yes I'm fed up with dark mornings too (shiftwork) but it will get better soon!

I had to work saturday night into Sunday morning. Great, one hour less to work, but still get the same pay.
Hate it when the clocks go back and I have to work, did manage time off last year.

Can you picture it?

Lying under the stars in a T-shirt, rods set, anticipation rising.
Fish rolling everywhere.

Then you get a screamer!!!

Roll on the summer!

;-)

Steve,

Working in Paris we have the added benefit of the extra hour time zone, so here it is light until gone 7.30PM.

Last night I walked down to the English pub' around 7PM to watch the Arsenal v's Juventus (way to go Arsenal ;-) and it was still bright, and for the first time this year I actually heard the birds singing.

Nettles, gnat bites, neck high blackberry bushes, loads of anglers everywhere, boats, low river levels...

Fred,

The "troubles" are mainly down by the Sorbonne and the centre of town. I am out at La Defense so there is no problem.

It is a pity though as the left bank has some lovely cafes and restaurants which must be suffering from lack of customers at the moment.

summer:bass, black bream, bull huss, tench ,lure fishing and stocking my freezer with all manner of sea fish for use as pike bait next winter!those are the pleasures!
the nasty bits are,hay fever, mozzies, holiday traffic, overgrown river banks, boats, canoes and fair weather noddy anglers.
