I have it on very good authority that from 2007, E.A. licences are going to be almost doubled for anybody who participates in night fishing sessions.
The reason is that carp/specimen anglers use the waters more than anybody else.
The extra revenue will go towards paying for extra bailiffing.
I can see the thinking behind this move, but I think there will be many who disagree.

Old Baz will be earning more money I see.

I've just heard from a friend in the police force that the proposed rates for next year's fishing licence are as follows.

Non-Migratory Trout and Coarse Fish: ?250
Salmon and Migratory Trout: ?650.
Carp and Barbel Night Fishing: ?1050 This will allow the use of 4 rods.

Concessionary licences will be half these rates.

Personally I think this is an excellent idea. Anglers will be allowed to pay off their licences by direct debit monthly. The huge revenue collected will be used mainly to establish salmon and seatrout fisheries nation wide.

Certainly the Trent and Yorks Don will be classified as a migratory fish river and all anglers fishing them will require the ?650 licence.

A new type of bailiff will be created with powers of arrest, confiscation of tackle and even vehicles.

Are we entering a new golden era of angling? I think so. The time when anglers thought they could persue their sport by paying next to nothing are over.

I welcome these proposals and so should all concerned and thinking anglers.

Baz,
Great idea I fully support it,bailiffs like yourself deserve an enormous pay rise for all the work you do when we are all tucked up in our warm beds.

I have it on good authority that the license is to be scrapped and the rod per mm tax is to be introduced. The rates have not yet been decided but ball park figures are believed to be in the region of 5p per millimeter of rods carried on ones person at any given time. Rods built of cane and greenheart will be exempt, much like old cars are exempt of road tax but if you're caught carrying such monstrosities you will be flayed to within an inch of your life with them. Poles may become a thing of the past;-)

Bailiffs should PAY the club`s that they are working for , after all they get free exercise ,free air and they can socialise with all the happy anglers they meet ,save`s them going to the pub .

I had two carpers this morning though.
The first one (a stranger) I weighed up because he was a big lad, head shaved, earings, the full monty.

I aked him for his card, and said you do realize I have got to give you a written warning don't you?

What for he said?

You are fishing from the car park end which is not allowed.

Since when he squawked? eyes bulging out of his head.

Since today said I, Do you know what date it is today please I asked?

Yes it's the 1'st of A..... You B******!! Hahahahaaa.

The second one was a beauty.

Card please.
You do realise I have to give you a written warning don't you?

What for?

You have three rods and only two is allowed.

No, these are my two fishing rods on the pod. The one by my bivvy is only a marker rod, look it hasn't got a hook attatched only a marker float.

It doesn't matter it is still three rods.

(His face now screwed up into a snarl)
You are out of order you can't give me a ******* warning for that.

Yes I can, I've got your card and I'm doing it. (I now stepped back out of arms reach from him)

Can you tell me what date it is please?

I'm telling you **** *** you *******.

It doesn't matter I've got the date here, it's the 1st April.

Silence........... Oooh no? I'll give you that one mate, hahahaaaaaaa.

anyone else seen the competition in the April edition of Match Fishing magazine? The prize is a gas bottle of helium from Daiwa for pumping into your poles! They had a good one last year at this time-the invisible line.
