Hi all

can u help?
My boys want to try carp fishing, but the lake we are going to does not allow bite alarms.
What can we do so that we can tell we have a bite as we don't have quiver tips rods or such like. Can we use (is it a monkey climber)to tell.
Sorry if this seems stupid, but if i don't ask i wont know.
Thanks for any answers
Mark (would be fisherman)

Mark.
A monkey climber is only an indicater so you should be okay with them.
Instead of seting it at the vertical. set it at a bit less than 45 degrees so it is on an angle, there is less risitance to a taking fish this way. Make sure the needle which the bobbin slides on is clean and straight.

You could also use a washing up bottle top.
Clip it over the line between the reel and the rod rest. Don't forget to slacken the clutch off or the rod could get dragged in.

Morning!

Why not float fish for them? all you really need is maybe a stronger mainline, slightly larger hooks and baits and away you go!
