Well I am just about to retire for the night slightly weary and a little worse for wear...

But

Before I disapear off to the land of nod for 10hours I would like to take the time to express my thanks to the barbel society for a great weekend

To Gary "Barney" Knowles for not farting on me in the bar

To Tony Miles, Trefor West and Peter Wheat for signing my books ( I just missed John Bailey)

To Tony Rocca for not smacking the meercat

To Martin Womble for his company

And everyone else involved brilliant! Thanks!

I could have sworn,I said something last night here, obviously forgot to send!
Anyway it was a pretty good conference and Gary ,probably gave the best presentation along with the guy from the ACA.
Some of the sights when I arrived, having missed the saturday night bash, needed to be seen, eyes deep in sockets and that yellow palor around the cheeks that comes from too much...well too much.

Had a wonderful time,Saturday night was a corker, glad I went to bed when I did before Lee's tipple put in an appearance though, what is it with 2Canes and Doncastrians ;-).
Enjoyed all the presentations especially Gary Knowles' talk on the Ribble, must give it a bash next season, very inspiring.
I thought Gary Newman did very well winging it in very difficult circumstances.
Thanks to all the speakers and the BS commitee for a great event.

Thanks Chris, finding out that the disc with all you slides on won't work about an hour before doing a slide show isn't the best thing to happen on your first ever one!
I've never been that nervous before about anything.
Really enjoyed the day and listening to the other speakers - much better than any of the carp shows I've been to in recent years.

Nice to rub shoulders with the elite for a few short minutes on Sunday.
Even got to chat with Greg Whitehead!
Gary, the bucket of water item in the DVD was hilarious.
Fred you've lost weight! :)
Trefor West signed his new book for me!

I would love to be able to say that I thought it was great and all the speakers were wonderful but as I didnt actually see any of it I cant comment.

I was asleep in my car all Sunday afternoon and drinking coffee all morning wanting to die.
Still, Saturday night was great as usual, I think.
It was Swordsy camara case that pushed me to a place I didnt want to be so I blame him ;o)

Well done, again, the BS.

These Northern lads really do have trouble holding their drink.

I'd have thought that having shown they're a bunch of lightwieghts on so many previous occasions they'd learn to keep their heads down, but no, every time they fall into the same old trap.

Will they never learn?

Lee you can come to any meeting you like providing you fetch that camera case.

Great talk Gary you waded through it well.

As for Rocca and Chris. P. Obviously the the extra beauty sleep did them no good at all.lol

Must have been the two in the bed syndrome ?

Nice chatting to you again Greg forgot how tall you are.

A great day all in all.

It was good to meet a few new faces,I lost out a bit by missing the saturday session, perhaps next year.
Good to meet you Jason,I was expecting more hair, from your photo elsewhere!
Terry,i'm told by Mr Ledger we've met,I'm sorry I missed you.I couldn't recognise you from your picture ;o) As for loosing weight,I lost a stone and a half before xmas...it's all back!
For all of you who think that BS members are all bearded old farts.Well there were only 8 beards out of 200 in attendance and only a few old farts!
Gary, your welcome anytime,but lager...yukk.

Nice pics Terry.I bet the little girl was enthralled by proceedings!

Is it just me or does Fred carry more than a passing resemblance to Ernest "Papa" Hemingway, especially in that get up?

I thought he looked like David Attenborough! :)
I was genuinely impressed by the conference and the way it was set up.
I'll be buying cane rods next, mind you that Fred Crouch centrepin looked the business.

The little girl is in fact a very accomplished angler and a BS junior.

Terry
Very few of us use cane rods, too bl***y expensive.
Cheers for the kind comments re the Conference and glad you enjoyed your visit.

Lee
Cheers for putting half the Yorks/Lincs contingant out of action.
