a lot of people use the same sort of rigs that they would use on a flat bottom on thick weed. I believe that this can cost you fish. A coated hooklink may not lie flat in thick weed (regardless of putty) due to the unevenness of it. The way (in my opinion) to tackle weed is a medium length rig (5-7 inches) and a pva mesh bag the same length as the hooklink. Thread the hooklink through the pva bag to ensure the hook is protected.

Or a paternoster to try and leave your hookbait sitting on top of the weed rather than going trhrough it.

or a chod rig (similar idea to paternoster) using a longer hooklink

so just use a 5-7" long amnesia hooklength instead of a coated braid?

if the bag is the same length as the hooklength, how will the coated braid loop up, the bag'll normally flatten the weed.

if you used a bag full of floating bread and an uncoated amnesia/snakeskin/hybrid combi hooklength then it will probably be alright.
