The fishing in this reservoir, run by Rotherham MBC, it now proving to be some of the best stillwater fishing of it's kind in England.

It's the quality of the fish that do it, plus the consistency of catches to above average fly fishers. Unfortunately there are those who blank, but there's nothing stopping them from learning and getting better.

Like my friend Noel Rafferty, a good mate of Andy Renton in the DVSG. I introduced him to nymph fishing the other day, and now you can't keep him away from the place.

I've now just exeeded my 100th trout from Thrybergh in 10 visits from 25th March.

My own best fish: 4lbs 12 oz

The best fish taken has been a 71/2 pounder. And these are not pellet fed stockies but grown on overwintered fish which wax fat on the huge natural food resource.
