where to go?

Hi there, new to the forum and new to carp fishing. Wife is offering me a birthday treat of two days fishing while she pampers herself at a spa. Any ideas of good carp fishing near a hotel? I live in Aylesbury Bucks.

While I'm here any ideas of good carping nearby even without a hotel??

Hi mate, have you been to Oakfield fishery at Kingswood. More of a commie but biggish carp in there and plenty of them....

Champneys at Henlow Grange? Famous carp water nearby, but no idea of availability & access; both way out of my league.

I've not been to Oakfield is it good for carp? do they do a day ticket?

I normally go to quainton which has been really good for me, a good runs water but most fish only around 8 - 10lb, I'd like to go for something bigger now.

As regards champneys out of my league too but what is the carp water nearby called?

Oakfield carp are about the same stamp as the Quainton carp, and yes it is day ticket.

I think the water at Henlow used to be called "Henlow Grange", I believe Kevin Maddocks was involved with it; googling Henlow or nearby Arlesey + carp throws up quite a selection!

P.S. A subsequent quick google suggests it's also called "Withy Pool". Yes, THAT one.
