Depends on the venue I find.

One stillwater I fish the results are far better with Bronze maggot whereas on the river then Red is the dominant colour.

I tend to use White maggot only for feed, but always with a few on my hook colour maggots mixed in.

If I remember rightly, annatto is a yellow colour used in butter.

Then there was crysadine! Long gone are the days when we returned home from a day on the Trent with our fingers, hands and arms orange up to the elbow.

BRING BACK PROPER BRONZE MAGGOTS - 2lb roach guaranteed!

I always use red these days when fishing rivers as they seem to produce more fish, especially roach and chub. Red has always been my best colour for roach. White, and also bronze, used to work quite well for the chub years ago but do not seem to be as effective as red in recent years so I would always use red now.
In my serious tench fishing days yellow was always a good colour, but I rarely use maggots for tench these days.
Combinations of red and white seem to work well for general stillwater fishing.

So, you weren't familiar with the famous 'natters'.

Went in one shop in Sheffield once and all around the counter were buckets, must have been 25 or more, all with maggots in, all different colours sizes or flavours. Choosing which was exceedingly difficult. Especially when you only had two bob to spend on them. ;)

Well, chrysoidine.

One famous angler died of cancer and it was said to have been the cause.

Red for me, but caster beats any maggot hands down IMO.

Had fish with green maggots but never had a thing with Blue maggots. I know a few lads who like using the fluro pink

Dye white maggies with Turmeric, the roach seem to like it but you end up with yellow fingers. I suppose the posh members use saffron.

Chap I was talking to at the pond today said he was catching well on gentles – didn’t ask what colour.
