My usual hooks for chub are Kamasan B983 widegape, usually in size 4 or, sometimes, 6. These are superb and probably the best chub hooks I have ever used.
I have a stock of Ashinma C310 hooks which I use in sizes 6 and 8 when I need a smaller hook,. These are small hooks for the size. I like these hooks and will have to replace them with something else when my stock runs out as they have not been made for some years. Perhaps somebody can recommend a replacement.
For feeder fishing I use Drennan Super Specialist size 16. These are nice and strong, which I think is a good idea when big chub can be expected.

I like the Ashima C310 hooks for barbel. They were meant to be carp hooks but were considered not strong enough by some of the carp guys, which is probably why they stopped making them. Again I will have to find a replacement when my stock runs out. Although the Kamasan B983 is a superb chub hook I think they are a bit light for barbel and when I need a bigger hook than the Ashima C310 I tend to use a carp hook, either Fox or Eustace. If a small hook is needed for particles I use a Drennan Super Specialist.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread for suggestions to replace the Ashima C310.

There's loads of good un's to choose from, one being the drennnan barbel hook. They're suitable for barbel and chub as are many others.

I rarely fish specifically for chub but know damned well that I'll catch my share when I target the barbel. When I'm chasing barbel I tend to use Nash Fang (particularly the Gapers). IIRC they go down to a size 10 so I don't use them for small baits.

I favoured Drennan Super Specialist Barbel Hooks (does anyone know if you can get these in barbless?) in my RMC/CMEX days as you had to use a barbed hook for anything over size14. Since then ESP Raptor T4 barbless or Drennan Super Specialist barbless.

No they don't them in barbless, but you can always squeeze the barb down flat with a pair of pliers.;)

Drennan Super specialists are amazing general purpose hooks - and the super specialist barbel hooks are great if you need something heavier.

Does anyone use some of the odd shaped hooks by Partridge? - I used to swear by some Partridge pattterns for paste fishing, but since I can no longer source them locally, my results have not suffered much.
