call me stupid but what sort of fish is this and whats wrong with it? Are they spawning tubiciles (think thats what there called?)

Spawning "nodules" is what I think you are thinking of Christian.
Not sure if that is what that fish has got though.

That looks remarkbly like the fins on the flying fish. Where was it caught?
And yes they are tubercles.

Looking at the second pic and the carp set up i would say it some strain of carp. not sure which though.
