Right i know theres a few people knowlegdable on fishing books on here. So does anyone have a clue if these books listed are worth anything or of any value at all, (not necesserily money) if you see what i mean? (excuse the spelling).

First Edition - Country Of The Thames by Annan ****son

First Edition - Fly Fishing For Duffers by R.D Peck

First Edition - Fly Tying: Priciples and Practice by Burrard

Second Edition - Fly Tying: Priciples and Practice by Burrard

And last but definatly not least,

Where to Fish (1951-1952) by W.G Luscombe
I thought this book was brilliant by the way!

Any help would be great, my dad picked them all up for about 25p each in a book sale somewhere. Not bothered really about values but its always nice to know so any help would be great!

Thanks,

Christian + Dad

Christian,
The easy way to get an idea of what a dealer would charge is to look on bookfinder.com You search by title, subject or author.

See if you can find a copy of a dictionary when you're next at a sale!

I don't think the books are very valuable but that doesn't matter.

At 25p a book you have certainly got a good investment. Such books, depending on the condition, often sell for ?10 at least.

And you might be able to flog them to a specialist book seller for around ?3 to ?5.

Christian, sounds like you've netted yourself some bargains!

If you want to keep them as a modest investment, you will need to store them safely.

Have a look at this...

Looking After Old Books

To be honest though, I'd hang on to them. I reckon I've probably re-read all of my collection several times.

Remember there is so much to know in fishing and so little time. Fishing books are a valuable reference for life, however dated some of the techniques may 'appear' to be.

Hope that helps...
