Portland Harbour

Just taken my boat out on Portland Harbour to blow off the cobwebs before I go catfishing in France. Took some gear out with me and had some cracking sport with Thornback Ray & Bass. The one Thornback weighed 19lb 12oz, could anyone tell me if this an average or above average fish for this area ? I've had some guy trying to tell me they don't grow that big and if it were true it would be a british record. I'm sure i've heard they grow over 20lbs. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cracking fish mate. Where did you launch if you don't mind me asking.
Can you boat fish anywhere in the harbour or are certain spots out of bounds?

Thanks Lads, Yeah it gave a cracking scrap on what was basically UK Catfish gear. The boat was launched from the sailing club (?10 + ?3.50 harbour fees) This allows you to fish anywhere within the harbour. Went back last weekend, wind was blowing hard and the anchor wasn't up to the job ! Moved to the southern part of the harbour and had Bass, pollack, dogfish and my first Cuckoo Wrasse !
