Any Suggestions

My Goal this season is to catch as many UK species as possible and clearly Barbel is on my list.

I would welcome any sugggestions on fisheries that are well worth visiting, preferebly day ticket or free stretches.

I'm based in Essex and don't mind travelling.

I'm aware of Fishers Green and the Thames but they are generally so over fished I can't be bothered with them.

Has anybody any alternatives.

Many Thanks

The Thames is generally over fished? Is it?

There are many places along the Thames that are certainly not over fished and hold numerous barbel. All it takes is some exploring.

Good luck!

Seems to me that the lad is clearly on a 'catch every species' mission which means time could be of the essence, and maybe he doesn't have the time to explore!

Not even a general area Jonny?

The Thames is a big river I believe!

Lower/Middle sort of area i'd guess would be easier for you to get to from essex. Around Windsor and Maidenhead or further downstream towards shepperton and hampton court. Hampton court can get busy but go a mile or so either side and it's not so busy.

Thanks Guys

Generally I am looking to drop into a fishery and have a go.

I was even thinking of going up North.

But I appreciate all your help

Best bet would surely be the Royalty from dawn to dusk.Pellets seem to be the going bait but check the Reports on the Davis Tackle website?

Location wouldn't be too much of a problem as the fish are reasonably spread out throughout the fisherey.

And the Trent is c**p, forget what you read in the angling press.

The barbel we all catch in the north is a scam.
