It will not be very good at the moment Gareth unless you can find some turbulent water.I used to fish it by the old cafe but its no longer there

Called in Wetherby today to check out an installation our company had installed and the river was very low

Too low, too warm, risky for the barbel. Best to wait whilst it cools.

John, do you mean the cafe or the river?I know flows are low but that's ridiculous!

Yes i should have worded that a little different.In the sixties and seventies there used to be an old cafe at the side of the river which sold day tickets(sadly its gone).The barbel fishing was excellent especially if the river was up,used to catch them on half a link of sausage.Its all changed these days and the Wharfe like many of our rivers is a shadow of itself although it still produces big barbel.Tony has caught a few in fact at one time i do believe he held the river record
