I hope there's going to be a "retro" option, wherein operatives:

Replace worn-out hardchrome rings on Mk IVs and Avocets etc;

Apply special ageing spray to shiny new Kelly Kettles;

Supply state-of the art bite detectors cunningly disguised as "Herons"; and-

Deliver one's new Norfolk Jackets, plus-twos and gaiters to one's swim.
And for Gawd's sake, they must NOT confuse "Really Twee" with real tweed, or there'll be warfare in the charity shops!

Will Tickle Tackle be bringing out a camouflage range out for wimter.

A white jacket and bib'n'braces for when there's snow on the ground.
The white would need to have a few yellow splashes on it and the odd brown stain to give it the proper British "snow effect"

Another great and very humorous article Kev but having observed some of todays carpers there could actually be a market for that kind of service.

You'd need yellow spots on the Winter camo gear for some of the waters I fish!

Sheffield lad Paul is on the right track. The next stage in camo wear is to persuade the gulible that they need different shades of clothing and gear to suit the seasons,all white like the commandos wear in artic conditions to autumnal tints for October.Why not colour rods and reels as well thus forcing the followers of fashion to buy different editions of the same rod to suit the season. All the gear-no idea!

"they ensure anything that causes fashion offence is destroyed in front of you."

What?

Try taking my split cane rods and . . . . . .
. . . . . . . you'll have to pry them out of my cold dead hands!

Alan notes:
"Replace worn-out hardchrome rings on Mk IVs and Avocets etc"

Have you seen the prices you have to pay for replacement rings for these rods Alan?

Mind you, i am still trying to get my hands on a decent 'original' Avocet - anyone out there want to help me out?

Alan, they do indeed but, at a price sadly. I have been hunting for a decent Avocet (and a Kennet Perfection) for ages - the ones on e-bay are either really tatty or have been refurbished and go for quite a price.

Ed. now there's a thought, it could marry up with my MkIV Avon from the same 'stable'

Currently, pride of place is given to a Shaun Linsley Perfection Carp (thanks to Nigel) which I am hoping to give an airing to this coming weekend.

Yum! Would that not put any B.James rod firmly in the shade?

I confess to few qualms about fitting new hardware to old rods that I intend to use, but I do have an Avon Perfection whose rings are no longer "Line Kindly" and yet I can't quite bear to take a blade to those ruby whippings. Bitch of a decision, innit?!
