Fish killed by mystery pollutants

The Environment Agency is investigating the death of a number of fish in the River Ribble in Clitheroe.
The agency says an unknown substance has twice been dumped in the river over the last few days, affecting an area from Grindleton to Brungerley.

Although the organisation is working to contain the incident, a number of fish have already died.

People are being advised not to enter the river in the Clitheroe area for the next few days, nor touch any dead fish.

Terrible. My nearest section of the River Dee has been regularly blighted by pollution incidents eminating from the Wrexham industrial estate. Unfortunately these little firms dont give a shite and dump all sorts of fluid into watercourses and streams which feed the main river. The last lot who were caught got fined ?2000 or something similarly derisive, which is probably cheaper than it would have been to dispose of the fluid safely.
Lets hope the Ribble incident isnt as bad.

It's looking like a tanker has been dumping it's load into a nearby drian which has run off straight into the river and the fish kill is a big one....
The organisation most affected will be Clitheroe Angling Limited one has to wonder what the legal position is with the ACA as Clitheroe Angling Limited is not a club as such???
