Just started jerkbait fishing; it seems like everybody is obsessed with soft baits at the moment. Trouble is they don't last very long and its got me wondering if I would suffer unduly if I didn't bother with soft baits at all and just fished with hard jerkbaits. Anyone out there doing ok with a "hard bait only" approach?

Also, where's the best place to buy lures without breaking the bank?

Soft baits are cheap if you buy things like grubs and rig them up yourself, Dave Lumb sells them and has some tips on his site

here

Plenty of other places sell the grubs, shads etc fairly cheap.

I prefer them to "hard baits" because you can rig them up on just a single hook or a single with a stinger and they're a lot quicker to unhook than big, multi-hooked baits.

Since I generally fish with Salmo Sliders and little else, even though I do have a vast collection of softbaits growing amongst my collection, it would be pretty fair to say that I do alright using hardbaits.
If I had to choose between softbaits and hardbaits for the rest of my days, I would have to go with hardbaits.
