Missing bites

Whilst waggler fishing mussels on a size 14 hook to nylon I have been getting a bite every cast but they are to fast to hit! What am I doing wrong?

Not if it couldnt get it in it's mouth, it would just keep attacking it and trying to swim away with it.

Try varying where you actually hook the mussell, and/or use smaller bits of mussell on a smaller hook.

I've tried cutting the mussell in half and various hooking methods. I I hook the mussell in the 'hard bit' the fish takes all the 'soft outside' leaving just the hooked part?! What size hook do you reccomend?

I would say use a bigger hook...10 or bigger,what fish are you after?

I've caught some tench around 1lb and a similar size carp. I am hoping to get some bigger tench!

Use corn?If you are missing bites on a certain bait I'd always try another bait.

I've tried corn, lunchoen meat, maggotts and bread paste. The only bait that is catching tench is mussells!!!

I would go for the bigger hook, and get the bait down the bottom as fast as you can.
Have you tried, laying on/lift method?
