Hi all, Can anyone tell me what a hair rig is and how it works ? I keep reading about them but don't understand.
I would like to know what a bait runner is too.

Hi Michael, a hair rig, hmm not sure how best to explain it. Here goes; right well you have your hook but of the bend of the hook comes another length of small line. This small length of line has a loop on the end. You use the to mount the bait instead of putting it on a hook. The idea being this can be a more efficent way of hooking fish. The fish sucks the bait into its mouth and when it trys to blow it back out the hook will hopefully prick the fish causing it to bolt. This often results in self hooked fish, hence why its associated with the bolt rig.
To be honest im sure someone else will be able to explain alot better.
Basically the baitrunner is a switch on the back of some reels, this enables the fish to take line under a certain amount of resistance. The angler can adjust this to the sort of size fish he will catch or how willing he is to let it run.
Hope this helps if not, well ask someone else ;)
