Fish are killed in polluted pond

Hundreds of fish have been killed after vandals polluted a pond at a nature reserve in Lancashire.
An operation is under way to remove about 400 fish, which include pike, carp and bream, from the pond at Longton Brickcroft reserve, Preston.

The pollutant poured into the pond has reduced oxygen levels in the water, so specialist equipment is being used to get the levels back up to normal.

Park Rangers and local anglers are helping to remove the fish.

It is believed the water has been deliberately polluted and an investigation is under way to find those responsible.

Park Rangers were alerted to the problem on Tuesday after local anglers noticed there were dead fish appearing at the sides of the pond.

South Ribble Council says it wants to find out what has happened at what is a popular site for people to visit.

The authority is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Can I give you 3 guesses as to who did this foul act.

And one of them has the initials PETA.
