I had intended doing a review, but for obvious reasons I will not. However I will mention here what I believe is one of the most important and truly great angling books to appear in recent years. Along with **** Walker's biography by the late Prof. Barrie Rickards; "A History of Carp Fishing Revisited" by Kevin Clifford, is an update of his earlier tome published in 1992. It is extremely well researched and written, and the photographs alone are worth the money.

Make no mistake this is a true labour of love and covers the introduction of carp to Britain through to the development of carp tackle, and more than anything, who did it and when. But this book could have been the history of coarse angling and where we are today, specifically in the field of specialist and specimen angling.

If you are a carp angler, or if you are an angler with any sense of history, "A History of Carp Fishing Revisited" is a must have for your bookshelf

Priced at £40.00 it is available from Sandholme Publishing and Carp Talk.

It ain't obvious to me... so possibly it isn't obvious to others.

Please write a full review Ron. Leg-pulling aside, there are lots of people who value your opinions.

If it keeps to the tradition of the original (with KC I'm sure it will) it looks like a must.

I have a copy of the new revised edition, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Not having the original version, I 'd be interested to know if this included, as the current edition does, references to one previously high-profile angler who was subsequently convicted of a very serious crime, and another, currently high-profile but using a name different to that by which he was originally known.

I have no opinion about the rights or wrongs of these references being in the book, just curious to know if they were included in the original or are new additions. Would anyone who has read both editions like to comment? PM if thought advisable!

I have the original book, and I also have a pretty good idea who the two anglers you refer to are! From memory neither are mentioned in the original book, but I'll try to remember to check and let you know.
