I wonder if anyone can help?

i am looking for a spinning rod. I currently have a 9 ft Drennan spinflex for my light work (spoons, small plugs and surface lures)which I use with a fixed spool reel.

I have a century RT2 heavy rod (matched with a calcutta)for my big crankbaits and jerkbaits.

What I am looking for is a rod to fill the gap. i am looking for something that I would combine with a fixed spool reel, but it needs to be beefier that the Drennan. Ideally it would be beefy enough to handle a super shadrap, as well as the medium sized soft baits. I am particularly keen to get hold of something with a good stiff action, so as to be able to impart the proper action into surface lures.

Not looking to break the bank though.

Is there such a rod?

When you say "not wanting to break the bank"..how much are we talking of.

I was in a similar situation last year.I was trying to find a rod that was a bit of an allrounder. After looking at several rods i came across the "Mick Brown spin stick".[20-70g].After a full season of use i can say that its a superb rod.I now use this rod for all my spinning apart from the very specialised extremes. At 80 quid its not the cheapest of rods but i can assure you its money well spent.

Drennan does a heavier spinflex, 9ft long and designed for lures up to around 50 gms so it will take a super shadrap. I bought one recently and will be using it from next month onward.

I used to have an earlier version of the spinfles, which was a good rod until I trod on it !

Dunno if they still do them, but I've got a Shimano Exage travel rod and it's excellent.

Thanks chaps.

My Drennan is an old version (cork handle, sliding reel fittings and 2lb test curve). I see that drennan now do a 2.5lb test curve version. This might be just the ticket.
