Fished a match yesterday at a venue on the boundary of Cheshire and Staffordshire. During the morning we were visited by two EA officals, whose usual green attire has now been supplemented by anti stab vests and side arm batons ( the extending sticks the Police have). What a very sad indictment on our so called civilised society that people simply checking whether anglers are in possession of a licence costing less than ?25 per annum need to wear body armour to protect themselves from assault by those who dont have one!
After showing my licence the EA man said 'we dont like wearing them but these days it is a necessity'.
