I've been looking to get a few odds and sods this last week or two, and had to go direct to the supplier for one item as every shop I phoned did not have in what I wanted, and were not prepared to order it. I had no idea how expensive a 'minimum order' is for some manufacturers, so the smaller shops just cannot stock their goods.
My local tackle shop, spot on for service and very reasonably priced, has just opened an account with a rod manufacturer, ?5k minimum spend, and some of the so called bigger and better brands are much much higher than this, meaning he will never stock their goods.
I know naff all about the tackle trade but surely it's to the manufacturers advantage to have their goods in as many shops as poss?
