shotting pole floats

please can anyone advise i recently puchased some pole floats which were marked 1g is it better to have one shot weighing the 1g suggested or to have several pieces of shot thanks

Depends on what style of fishing you are doing David!

Eg some waters/species respond better to bulk shot (or an olivette) say, 18 inches from the hook, others to shots spread out!

If you have duplicate floats you could shot them up one with bulk shot and one with the shots spread!

However if you only have a few floats, probably the most flexible way is to have several smaller shot, as these can be spread out or bulked depending on the situation, all you need to do is slide them down!

Ideally, shot your pole float using a piosipombo shoting device. Even for running water i find it is best to use for example, 4 No.4 shot, rather than a BB for your bulk, this allows you to be more diverse in your shotting pattern, and lets you move it around, or if needed split it, dependant on the water you are fishing. Incorporate at least three or even four No. 8, or 10;s on your rig as droppers.
