I dont know how long the fridge will last as the ammonia from the maggots wrecks normal fridges in no time if maggots are kept in them in quantity and time,but as a temporary holding place it should be fine in small quantities

Your best bet if you've got the room is to buy a second hand fridge. Failing that get an electric cool box. Coleman and Outwell are two makes that spring to mind. I've got the Outwell one and it works fine for beer and the occasional maggot transportation.

One thing to note with these devices is that it's best to switch them off for one hour in every 24. They have a tendancy to fail if you don't.

I've learnt my lesson buying older fridges & freezers. Used to have a couple to hold bait & it worked out they were costing me well over £100 a year to run them. Would only consider an "A" rated modern appliance or something very small.
