That special place

Do you have one, a place where you can go and have a good days fishing and have never seen another angler or signs that one as been in the vicinity --one that you guard and tell no one of its whereabouts,a place that is overlooked by all others?

It would be nice if such a place existed in this day and age. The closest I can get would be having access to a private stretch of the Colne (some 800m) that is rarely fished by anyone else other than the owner and his son. Also some farm ponds that you rarely see another angler.

Yes and many of them were not in this country.

However I could always get on a length of the River Leam, even on a Sunday and the only bank wanderers were cattle and the odd sheep.

The farmer came down to see me just as I was putting the net under a nice 4 3/4lb chub.

"Hell"says he, I didn't know that there were fish like that in this little brook".

"Shuuussshh!" says I.

No, 'fraid not.
Then again, it's ok, because I like the odd bit of chat that parkland fishing provides.

Most of the rivers around where I live are empty and most offer good sport with a bit of effort.
