I no it may sound a daft question, but what is the difference between a centrepin reel and a fly reel ?
Fly reels seem to be cheaper than the more fashionable pins.

In basic terms, a centrepin is generally larger and spins more freely than a fly reel.

fly reels do not spin easy so you cant trot with them, fly reels are mainly to store the line on ,because you keep pulling the fly line off the reel by hand
im sure thers a post on here some where which explains it better. But in short they both do a different job

Stikflote is right.
Don't try to use one to do the other 's job.
The only exception would be when fishing a stillwater, when a fly reel could conceivably be used instead of a pin. Can't see why anyone would though.
