What's Gimp Master got in his hands in pic 16? He really shouldn't be allowed out of his cage.

Great write up.

What a terrific write-up John, and some great pictures too. It looks like it was a super day all around.

Mind you, looking at those pictures, you can easily pick out the 'old' matchmen can't you.

Wendy, tell me please, how do you manage to close your eyes at the exact hundreth of a second or so that the shutter fires on a camera?
With reflexes like that you'd make a great match angler :)

That river looks lovely John, I'd like to bet it can fish really well in the winter, right?

I hope our Grayling Day next Saturday on the Kennet turns out half as well.

Not so bad with that Nikon D200 was I.

Now then Graham, now that you've got your Daiwa 125M, when are you going to send me the Nikon?

Remember it was supposed to be a straight swop.

Wendy, yes, Saturday November 4th.

Nigel has organised the day and there is a thread in 'Coarse Fishing' section of the forum. (I can't do those link thingies)

Ron,
Nice try :)

Graham,
I have a pair of those 125M's in the 'lock-up' if you are looking to be shot of that Nikon :)

Ron and Peter, I'm so tempted to do the swap. Now let me think about it...

No thanks!

Now what do I do to be able to afford a camera like Graham's

Even The Monk can afford one.

Work harder, longer, earn more money.

Spend less on figs.

Excellent write up and a pretty good looking venue as well. That's what a fishing day out should be!

More determined than ever to make the trek north for hopefully a similar day.

Graham offers Ron the ideas of:

"Work harder, longer, earn more money.
Spend less on figs."

to which I might add:

Sell your body?

or better still . . . . . . . . Get that bluidy BOOK WRITTEN!

:)

Well done John that was a lovely write-up, very interesting and a great story.
That was a nice touch with the numbered pictures too.

How far is the Idle from Bristol?

It looks like a lovely bit of water, maybe the pole would work well with the slow flow?

Well done to all of you, it looks like you all had a great day.

About 190 miles or 5 hours on a good day,Steve.
A pole would work well.

I have caught a few nice Idle roach on the pole in the past.

But I do like my new 17 foot rod too.

Do you recommend the new long rod then Ron?

Is it best suited to this type of fishing or could it handle bigger stuff on heavier gear?

I have not posted much lately due to my health not being so good for the last few weeks, have to see a specialist in the next few days so that should be thrilling.
Hope i can make the 16th Dec fish in but if i cannot the river is booked so you will be ok.
Most of the good photos where taken by Graham who also helped to put it all together so many thanks to him
