Following another thread on a possible record fish I thought I'd look up on the net to see what the current records of some species are now.

(Please note: I don't want to create a thread that criticises the Angling Trust for all sorts of problems, but....)

It seems that the BRFC are part of the structure of the ATr and yet nowhere on the ATr site can I find a list of all species and their records. Am I missing something because even when I search and I find a link that says BRFC Coarse Fish Record Listings it just shows me a page explaining the setup of the committee.

Is there something wrong or is the list a (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) a secret?

for some reason the record lists always used to be looked after by the national federation of sea anglers and i think it still is. not sure if they are a part of the AT but if they are not that could explain it?

Angling Trust web site. Click on Go Fishing and follow the links to British Records
I remember there was a link in the news section from the new Logo of the BRFC

You did find the right page Jeff, just didn't scroll down far enough to see the separate Word documents. A 'Senior Moment', perhaps :)

If anyone is interested the old SAA Top 50 lists are still on-line at Specialist Anglers Alliance

Yes the NFSA did keep the records, and couldn't tell/kmow the difference between weir and Wear

What surprises me on this list is that people really go out of there way to register a fish like the Minnow as a Record ....... are there Minnow specialist anglers out there deliberately just trying to beat the record ????????????

Surely a member of the AT would know
And indeed 'he' does, John.

I met Mike Heylin last Friday and in the conversation I told him about the difficulty in finding it, but it is there he told me. You have to go to this page and then go to the bottom and there wuou will find 3 download links, one for coarse, one for game, and one for sea.

Mike did agree though that it is very obscure and it should be a front page click - i.e.: RECORD FISH LISTS and that would take you straight to the listings.

Still I have what I wanted now and it just shows how some 'other' lists are badly informed. Mind you, Mike did say that the ATr's list wants updating. Isn't there anyone can do this?

Why shouldn't we have a minnow record? With all the HNV baits being chucked into the water these days, who knows what size the minnow might reach.

The Minnow Study Group came out of The Ruffe Study Group, and I think The Monk might have something to do with it.
