Just been out to check mine for you.
There is no stop at all on them ie the dial needle continues to move anti-clockwise when turning the thumb screw. It appears that something must have moved somewhere so I would zero and do a check against a bag of spuds or something.
You might end up having to leave a zero and deduct the sling weight afterwards.

Rich.

Its the other way round rich. The zero knob will let it go anti-clockwise but will not go past 29lb clockwise so i carnt get it to 0lb or + lb if you get what i mean.

OK....been over wound.Keep going anti-clockwise and go all the way around. Then check to see how far out the weights are.

If that doesn't sort it here is the contact page for Heaton's.

It does sound like that it has been over wound in that direction though. There isn't anything else ... the thing is too simple for much else.
