Curbs on shark fishing announced

Curbs on the number of deep sea sharks that Scots fisherman are allowed to catch have been announced by fishing bosses in Brussels.

The move will be phased in over four years, with a 25% cut next year and the same the following year.

The curbs were announced by fisheries minister Ross Finnie, who also disclosed that at crunch talks in Brussels next month he will press for Scots fisherman to be allowed to catch more monkfish and Rockall haddock.
