Hi, I understand "The Gemina" centre pin reel ( made in England) was a popular budget/cheap reel around the 1950s and 1960s. I tried to determine the manufacturer and/or retailer (eg.Woolworths ) to no avail. Can anyone enlighten me ?
It may be old and heavy however it has a line guard , I fished with it for fun the other day and caugth some trout and eels. KIND REGARDS, EDGAR

I was recently told they also made the gynormous Maxima centrepin and I saw a very strange reel with a gearchange on eBay yesterday that was clearly made by them too. Seems all the reels names and in an 'a'.

I don't recall Woolworth's selling them personally...and I worked for Woolies in the early Seventies. I think they mostly sold their own Winfield range sourced from a number of manufacturers including American ones.

You're very welcome Edgar, pleased to help.

If you have a look on Ebay the reels mentioned above are available excepting the Little Kraka, (i'd have bought one of those just for the name). :):)
