Hi Colin, try “Rivercall” for information on levels in your local rivers you can call the following numbers:-
North East Region 0906 619 7722
North West Region 0906 619 7733
Midlands Region 0906 619 7744
Welsh Region 0906 619 7755
South West Region 0906 619 7766
However! the readings given over the telephone may not mean a lot at fist e.g. if they say 0.35 metres and rising, you’ll need to have visited the river to see what this figure means to the part of the river you fish. After a short while you’ll get use to interpreting the figures.
I use it all the time when fishing the River Lune and I now enter the figure in my log and one or two patterns are beginning to develop.

chris, the rivers i would like a check on are mainly the severn & trent.

There are level guages on the Severn system, with numbers you can ring for recorded message info. Needless to say I haven't got them on me but will root around at home for them.
