I have used it semi fixed and with a running rig. I have been using it for a while now and had barbel to over 11lb and carp up to 23lb on it.

Definitely, i had been blanking big time on the River Ivel, never landed a barbel (lost a few), now banked them. Same with the carp on a syndicate water

Only used it once so need to try it more, but i did notice the hook was in the same place on three fish, plus i had more pickups on that rig compared with the other that had silkworm braid.
very interesting.

to me its just another selling gimmick

with correct rig set up/presentation you'll do as well if not better

i've had over 30 years experience on some of the hardest waters in the uk

and guess what - i use 2 hooklink materials - 25lb Silkworm and 25lb Mantis

theres no magic hooklink material - study rig mechanics first - hence why is the Chod rig such a poor hooker and gives 'stuttered' runs/pick ups

and what are the fundamental flaws with the stiff rig?

I had this shown to me by some bloke from Nash at the tackle and guns trade show last year and I have to say, I didn't see the point then, and I am none the wiser now.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

the problem a lot of people have with the chod/silt rig is the wrong free bait application

"to me its just another selling gimmick"

its not a selling gimmick, as carp test the baits by slowly backing away if the rig has an element of stretch to it, as the hook takes hold the rig is still elongating. Excellent product!

carp testing the bait - just fell off my chair laughing!!

sorry Clare you've fallen for the hype - they don't have the intelligence to test anything!

having watched hundreds of carp and their reactions to baits and rigs from a few yards - it just does not happen that way!

but if your happy using the suff - fair enough !
