After anglers were barred from waters in some parts of the country because of foot and mouth, parts of Fenland are apparently now suffering mad beet disease, aka rhizomania.

Assuming my leg wasn't being pulled, this could mean access to some waters near sugar beet closed, as the disease - which makes the root crop go all funny - is easily spread.

Rhizomania was on Sky telly, it was a fishing match or some such thing!

It's a real disease DEFRA
and it seems endemic in East Anglia anyway.
