Flip outs

Some cameras have a flipround LCD screen for self-take shots.
How is it possible to see the screen from six feet away when I can't even see the screen from six inches away in certain conditions.
Also I notice that some cameras with flip out screens don't have a infra-red remote! what's the point in that...or am I missing something.

Steve, if any camera, be it still or video, that has a flip out screen and no remote control then avoid it.
Truth is though I've not seen a digital stills camera with a flip out screen but most camcorders do have them.

Ive got one mine has a delay timer and all the wistle etch. never tried a self portrait I'm not narsissus.
