It does seem that the weather is fairly settled for the moment and will become a little milder later in the week.

So I'm off for 3 days roaching on the Idle.

Really serious stuff this time of course, as I should have the river to myself. I'm afer the elusive 2 pounder of course.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Lucky git. Are you night fishing as well Ron or just travelling back and forth?

Good luck anyway...

I don't like night fishing these days although I will do it with a few friends around in summer.

I am spending two nights in a nice little inn. If there is one thing I cannot abide is having to drive there and then drive home after a short day's fishing in winter.

Ron,

I had one 2 pound 3 ounce Roach yesterday, early morning from, 'you know where' on the Hampshire Avon. It was only the second bite of the morning, and the last bite for the next 3 hours before I packed up.

Good luck in your quest.

Steve,
You are a bad man - bloody funny, but bad nonetheless :)

Well done Peter on your two pounder.

The first two days of my trip produced over 60 roach, but nothing like a two pounder. Best fish would have been around 12 oz, but it was good fun. The big 1 1/2 lb plus Idle fish don't seem to be around at the moment. However the river is stuffed with roach which are in pristine condition so it bodes well for the future.

The pike were not active at all. A couple of pikers who came down the river never had a touch in 2 days.

I didn't fish today as the wind was horrific and the Idle looked like the North Sea.
