I fished these stretches a few times whne I was a kid - we stayed at a caravan park in Hemmingford Abbotts.

Does anyone know anything about the fishing rights and quality of fishing on these stretches?

I have not fished there myself yet but live in the area and have been told by reliable people that there are big carp in those stretches and some potential record shaking chub up near haughton .
Also heard of eels being seen during daylight .

Sorry only just seen this.

The river in those parts is on the whole very healthy with good numbers of silver fish, some good chub and the odd big carp too, plus pike, good perch and the odd zander.

Most of the fishing is on a turn up and fish day ticket. there is the odd seal inhabiting the river though and not sure if they have got that far up the river as yet but they have decimated the carp, pike and chub on parts of the middle river
